Buggyfit classes incorporate cardio vascular and fat-burning exercises with strength training and toning, concentrating on the specific areas that need work after childbirth. The great thing is that this mix produces maximum results for each class member as it not only tones but helps to raise the metabolic rate and aid in weight loss too.
Buggyfit classes are extremely safe postnatal exercise classes. As long as you have had the all clear from the GP following your 6-8 week checkup then you are welcome to join us! You will not be doing any ‘bootcamp’ style exercises, no Hiit training, nothing detrimental to your pelvic floor muscles. Your pelvic floors have been through an intense 9 months and anything that will put undue pressure on them whilst you are in your postnatal recovery period, will not do them any good. We must respect these muscles!! The exercises that you will do will be exactly what these muscles need to regain strength, functionality and efficiency.
You will be given an abdominal assessment on your first class, nothing to worry about!! In order for me to give you the best training plan I can I must first assess and establish what physical state your tummy is in. I will check for any disastais recti (abdominal separation) which is perfectly normal and to be expected following your pregnancy. It is important that this is checked for as it will determine the whole programme I will give you to start you off. We can then regularly check back to see how any gap is improving and your exercises / training programme will then be amended accordingly.
